I produce and present my own radio series, The Pianist Entertains, on Soundart Radio (102.5 FM in Totnes and online worldwide). It features a unique blend of popular piano music from the 1920s to the present, with a focus on the artists of the 1950s–1970s – the sort of music not heard often on radio now, but still very popular.
The first series was broadcast between January and May 2025 live on Soundart Radio. This series was successful from the beginning, as demonstrated by the fact that the first episode reached number 12 on the Mixcloud community radio charts (out of all recordings with the "community radio" tag uploaded that week).
The second series began in September 2026, in a recorded format, again on Soundart. This series has also been very popular, with the first episode peaking at both number 29 on the Mixcloud easy listening chart and number 33 on the community radio chart.
I present and produce every programme myself. All episodes in series one were presented from the Soundart studio at Dartington, and each episode in the second series has been recorded using my own home studio setup to produce a professional result.
Most of the episodes are unscripted, but I have written scripts for a few episodes to practice that skill.

During my time with Soundart, I learned how to operate a mixing desk by myself, which allowed me to present programmes entirely by myself (including at times when other people were not in the studio).
I was also able to put into practice presenting skills I had learned by listening to the radio, including how best to address the listener and the best style of presenting required for a light-hearted music programme.
I also learned how to deal with an on-air breakdown, when after my live show ended the next pre-recorded programme did not go out. I filled for 45 minutes with music and regular messages informing the listener of the fault, and thereby ensured that there was no dead air and that the listener was provided with interesting programming.
